I have owned and used three of these for the last year or so. I use them frequently for roasting vegetables, etc.for my family of four and our occasional guests. I have been disappointed in the nonstick surface and the inability to clean it well when the food is burnt on. (The best way to roast veggies is at a fairly high heat and I try to get away with just a small amount of olive oil.) So I guess I have abused them but there is no easy way to clean the nonstick finish . Consequently, I amseeking a reasonably priced Stainless steel pan. I have loved the size as they accomodate a good amount of food at once. So while they served my need for a large size pan for cooking, they do not clean well, the nonstick finish is so terrible looking right now and I assume unsafe to continue using. Wish they made these in Stainless or even high quality aluminum as I would be able to clean well. Recommend for only occasional use.

This is a rather large pan with removable nonstick rack that will hold all but the biggest birds. The interior nonstick surface cleans easily, but getting it in your sink (or dishwasher) can be a challenge. The plain aluminum exterior scratches if you so much as look at it, and mine came apparently pre-loved with a hard surface. In practice however one pan works as well as another. The rack holds food securely, doesn't stick to the food, fits well, and the entire contraption will fit into even smallish ovens if need be. The handles are secure and the pan cools quickly (thanks to its aluminum construction). Overall not bad, just $10 more than it should be.

Because I am an All-Clad fan, and I own and use more All-Clad pieces than I really can afford, I feel like a traitor as I begin to write this.I wish I could return-for-refund my copy of this very pricey All-Clad "French Oven" (not purchased from amazon.com).For my needs, my two Le Creuset oval ovens and one Le Creuset round "buffet casserole" do the (French / Dutch) "oven" thing better, cheaper, and more beautifully.Cast iron, although not as physically tough as stainless steel, really does hold the heat much better, plus it works with induction, just in case you have induction (I do not) and you need to use the "oven" on the stove-top; this All-Clad oven bottom is non-magnetic.Le Creuset uses cast iron for the cover as well as for the bottom, unlike this All-Clad piece, which has the plain stainless steel (non-clad) cover, which I think compromises the "oven" concept of all-encompassing uniform heat.My All-Clad oven's wire rack (a plus over Le Creuset, which has none) is totally flat, and it hugs the rounded contours so snugly that the little bent-wire legs do not even touch the bottom of the pan, so the rack is not totally stable.A bed of mirepoix or potatos or such vegetables would perform better than this rack unless you are going for enclosed dry roasting of poultry, which really needs a non-flat rack, one that can hold the bird in the desired position.This oven's bottom pan is too deep to double as a roasting pan unless you can find a V-rack that will properly fit this pan.Also without its cover, the pan likely could be used for baking lasagna, but I think that the top of the food would be too far below the top of the pan for proper browning.Now, it is just barely possible that I somehow am not getting the point of this All-Clad "French Oven".(I understand All-Clad's attractive "Dutch Oven" OK, but cast iron really is the more appropriate material for the task.)In any case, I am hoping that someone from All-Clad will read this, take pity on me, and wave their magic wand, absolving me of my treachery, and take back their piece so that I then can put that money into other All-Clad items that I (really, truly do) need.

Successor to company's earlier kettle-style units.
Worked very well first time out of the gate.
Cooked a 13.7lb turkey in the minium time.
Seems well built and thought out.
I prefer an electric fryer to a gas one for reasons of safety and that it can be used inside.
I owned an earlier Masterbuilt that worked well but failed after only a few Thanksgivings.
The main reason I gave this one a 4 instead of 5 star is that, to me, the jury's out on the reliability.
Still, the first one worked well enough to give them a second chance.
Right now, this one's working great.

Had an emergency this year - my oven broke before Thanksgiving. As we usually host this meal, I was concerned that this year we might have to eat out or go to someone elses' house for the holiday.
I noticed this roaster on sale, bought it, and used the roaster to cook this years turkey. Some observations:
(1) The process is a little different - but the turkey was moist - resulted in favorable comments from all, (2) the roaster cooked the turkey faster than a traditional big oven, and (3) it is probably more energy efficient than a traditional oven.
Have not tried it for baking yet, but it is supposed to be okay for that also.
And in the future when more than one oven is needed - it will be my second oven.

I positively love my OXO fat separator!It holds a good amount of liquid, but not so much as to be difficult to pour.The lid helps strain out the solids, but if you want your broth to be absolutely clear, put a piece of cheesecloth over the lid.

IMPORTANT - the little black stopper MUST be inserted in the pouring spout before you add liquids to the cup or the fat will simply rise up in the spout.The stopper creates a vacuum, forcing the fat into the main body of the cup.When you're ready to pour, remove the stopper and the fat will remain floating in the body of the cup.

This cup is made out of high-quality plastic and washes up well in the dishwasher. It doesn't stain when you wash it with the tomato sauces! I've used mine for a couple of years and it's as good as new.I wouldn't make gravy or broth without it.

I also own its big brother and both pans work extremely well.Efficient, even heating.Upright handles make the pan easier to lift.Solid, heavy contruction.I like going from oven to stove top for making gravy. Easy to clean (dishwasher safe).

Worth the price for All Clad quality and the perfect roasted bird.

Update 1/7/07:This pan does not work on induction cooktops

During our 1999 rating of roasting pans, we decided that the upright handles, roomy interior, and sturdiness of All-Clad's Stainless Steel Roti ($275) justified its hefty price. Since then, however, we've noticed that our top-rated pan has a tendency to warp slightly on the stovetop while browning roasts or deglazing fond. (The Roti lacks the clad construction-an aluminum core sandwiched between layers of steel-that makes other All-Clad cookware so reliable.)
