The flavor of the oak was in our opinion superior to the more popular and readily available hickory and mesquite that you find at the supermarket these woods are overpowering for our tastes. We did not taste any hints of wine and was not expecting to. But it did have a mellower flavor than other oak wood that we have had in the past. The best thing about this brand is that the chunks are very uniform in size and burn equally making the estimate of how much you need very predictable. meaning you start with 5 chunks. see how it comes out and adjust the next time. To smokey for you- use 3 not smokey enough-use 7 the uniform size makes the guesstimate quite accurate. The other thing I like is the packaging. Yes-the packaging. Most wood come in bags and makes the storage of them a bit clunky. The boxes make good use of space and can be stored in camping bins and bbq boxes much more efficiently. We store 3 different flavors of wood in the same box and only pack the 1 box. Anyone who grew up with the same tetris like mentality should relate. We also like the woodchips for pork. and our favorite are the chips for seafood and veggies! The seafood and veggies chips are 5 star!!!!!

Cuisinart Simply Grilling Nonstick Grilling Basket Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this product primarily to cook fish on the grill.There were two problems with this basket that led me to send it back without ever using it.First, the tines that make up the basket are spaced too far apart - so less dense fish (think talapia) would easily fall through - as would smaller pieces of vegetables. The 2nd problem was the way the basket closed - which made it very likely for the user to get fingers smashed during closure.I have a cast iron basket with much smaller holes that just sits on top of the grill - and I will just continue to use that for fish and vegetables unless I find a better quality version of this type of basket. Great idea - but poor design.

Charcoal Companion Nonstick Hamburger Grilling Basket Review

(More customer reviews)The picture displayed here on Amazon shows the unit's metal wire going all the way through the wooden handle with a small loop at the end. However the actual product shipped is different. The metal wires do not go all the through the wooden handle, they actually go into the handle about 2 inches and stop. This puts too much pressure on the end of the wooden handle and as a result the wooden handle on my unit cracked and broke completely off the very first day I got it as I walked towards my BBQ and I didn't even have it loaded with hamburger meat. The weight of the unit itself caused the handle to break due to the poor design, a real balance issue!

(More customer reviews)This may be called a roast holder but you've missed out until you have used one to cook a turkey.You can cook up to a 14 lb. turkey easily in a 22-1/2 inch grill using this rack.I cooked my first turkey in a Weber 21 years ago and have cooked at least two every year since.There is no comparison if you want a moist tasty turkey.My family would mutiny if I tried to cook a turkey any other way and my wife loves to have her oven available to fix the rest of the holiday dinner.Maybe one day I'll try cook a roast but I wouldn't trade this rack for any other way to cook a turkey.

(More customer reviews)As mops go this is one of the better ones that I have used.Often when I am smoking a brisket I need something that I can just slop on the juices with, and this mop is great.The fibers are quite absorbant so the hold a lot of juices.The handle is long enough that I can reach through the small smoker door and mop my meats on the bottom rack.I love the fact that the head is detachable, this makes cleaning up simple.

You can't go wrong with this mop.

Cuisinart CW-128 8-Inch Stainless Steel Grilling Wok with Removable Handle Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned several of these grill baskets/woks, and this one is the best.I always liked doing shish-kabob type meals on the grill, but the problem with different foods taking different times to grill was a big problem.The mushrooms were never done and the tomatoes were falling off the skewer.This grill wok solves that problem completely.

I can stage the entry of veggies/meats into the grill wok according to the time it takes them to cook.Things like mushrooms and garlic cloves go in first.Squash, onion, peppers come next.Cherry tomatoes go in last, just enough to warm them a bit.A little spray oil, seasoning and experience and your grilled veggie dishes come out healthy and absolutely delicious.I've done quick-grill seafood medleys in this successfully, too (shrimp, scallops, calamari).Getting the grill really hot seems to be the key to getting a slight char while not overcooking.

I've owned several grill baskets and this one is much better than any other I've tried, so much so I've thrown those out and am now buying another one of these.The ability to detach the handle and securely re-attach it quickly is the feature that sets this one apart.I like to be able to close the grill's lid to retain heat since I usually cook meats on the top rack.Fold-away handles on other designs I've tried are not secure enough to use the saute` action I find essential to keeping the contents moving adequately over a hot grill, and small side-handles on others I've tried are even less useful.I just open the grill every minute or two, attach the handle, and toss the contents, adding seasoning or more ingredients as needed.Works like a charm!

The round shape is perfect - no corners for food to get stuck in.Stainless steel is nice, too.This thing gets "seasoned" like an iron skillet after a few uses.I leave mine on the hot grill when done and it pretty much takes care of itself.

You can overfill these things, which makes if very difficult to move the contents around freely, so you may want two if you find yourself grilling for more than a few folks at a time - and you have enough area on your grill.

Mostly I use it for shrimp/scallops and vegetables but it grills a mean trout on the plank ( the ones from the hardware store fit perfectly) and I have even baked a pretty good little pizza on it. Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Aluminum Charcoal and Ash Scoop Review

(More customer reviews)Before I bought this for moving charcoal the three feet from the container to the grill, I tried using tongs.The little bits always slipped out, particularly when using lump charcoal instead of briquettes. Took forever, too.Then I tried using a plastic mixing bowl.I couldn't get the charcoal to scoop well because the lip was too thick and the bowl wasn't the right shape. Plus, the plastic is now scratched and seems to be permanently black at the top from the charcoal.Clearly not the best idea I've had lately.

This scoop solved all that.It is large, and seems like it would stop a bullet.It has a nice polish that looks nice, while not collecting charcoal dust.All aluminum means it won't rust when left outside (as mine is).

Surprisingly good quality -- it looks like it cost a hundred dollars at a specialty store.Would make a good gift, especially if you notice that the griller in your life has been scratching up the mixing bowls.

(More customer reviews)I can't believe these gloves haven't been reviewed by anyone else yet! I've had mine for a year now and they are absolutely great for handling hot foods. I use them for pulling pork butt or moving hot chicken from the grill (or oven) to the cutting board (and then to hold onto it while carving it). When I can't smoke pork butt outside in the winter, I do pulled pork in my crockpot and with these gloves I can shove my hands right into the scalding liquid of the crockpot to remove the butt and then pull it apart. Another great feature is when you clean them, you just leave them on and wash your hands with soap and water under the faucet. I think they're great!

(More customer reviews)We love beer can chicken but when I learned the linings in beer cans contain bisphenol a that can leach into our food I was so happy to find this safer alternative.It's broader base makes the chicken more stable on the grill and it cleans up in the dishwasher.I looked at some of the metal versions but most come in two pieces where the column is welded or tacked to the base and several people made comments about some of them leaking over time.Not so with this ceramic version.I'm ordering a second one for when everyone comes for dinner.
