(More customer reviews)I'll keep it brief.The wide base makes it much more stable than some roasters.The beer can holder can of course be used for anything wet or dry to flavor your chicken.The vented base is big enough to hold a lot of whatever you decide to put in it.And last, it's pretty sturdy.The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I wish the metal were just a little heavie gauge.

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for a roaster/broiling pan.Heavy enough not to warp under high heat.Not non-stick since I want to deglaze the pan for sauces.DW safe - my husband puts everything in the DW or it doesn't get washed!AND a conductive bottom surface for even heating and use on the stove top during deglazing.

I looked at the much more expensive All-Clad Roti BUT the handles were at a fixed height - too tall for close positioning next to my broiler.The handles of the multi-pan fold down.

Even if it weren't on sale, it's a fraction of the cost of the All Clad, meets all of my needs and my family's lack of care . . . this is perfect!!!

(More customer reviews)I have used this kind of roaster for the holidays over the years and love them. It keeps the Turkey so moist and cooks very even.
The problem I have with this new one is it is made in China not the USA like my other one. The new one is not as heavy and the quality of workmanship not up to par. I never found it on the internet as a recalled item so I kept it but still am not really confortable with products made in CHINA because of the lead content in allot of their products.

Oxo Good Grips Fat Separator, 4-Cup Review

(More customer reviews)I positively love my OXO fat separator!It holds a good amount of liquid, but not so much as to be difficult to pour.The lid helps strain out the solids, but if you want your broth to be absolutely clear, put a piece of cheesecloth over the lid.

IMPORTANT - the little black stopper MUST be inserted in the pouring spout before you add liquids to the cup or the fat will simply rise up in the spout.The stopper creates a vacuum, forcing the fat into the main body of the cup.When you're ready to pour, remove the stopper and the fat will remain floating in the body of the cup.

This cup is made out of high-quality plastic and washes up well in the dishwasher. It doesn't stain when you wash it with the tomato sauces! I've used mine for a couple of years and it's as good as new.I wouldn't make gravy or broth without it.

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these roasters to cook Christmas dinner. It made the best ham, and pork I have cooked in my life, moist and hot and once it was seasoned and clicked on it practically cooked itself.
HOWEVER EVEN THOUGH I give it five stars for being a fantastic extra portable oven
Nesco sends this item out in need of being pre-used before cooking in forthe first time.
Had my son not used it the week before to make sausage and meatballs Christmas dinner would have been ruined!! AND my house would have reeked of burnt plastic!!! The initial odor was quite bad .
The oven took over 7 hrs. plugged in outside to burn off this odor. I have had toaster ovens, coffepots toasters, electric fry pans etc. and pulled them out of the box washed and used them instantly! Nesco would do well to burn the ovenoffon their own site.I called customer service and let "poor nice Hazel" have it....hopefully she will pass along my suggestion and get a promotion to boot!
Also,I have no garage and had it been a rainy day I would not have had a ventilatedcovered area to burn it off in.I do see another review where this was an issue for the man who bought it... if you read this I agree but I wish you had kept the oven its all up hill after burn off! YES it is true,they do state in the directions to run oven before using for the first time BUT this is inside the box.This could be a real deal breaker for someone who didn't open it up at least aday before they needed it!
Bottom lineit is a fantastic product. Easy clean up & versatile can be used to cook & keep foodwarm, useindooror or on hot days why not cook outdoors , good looking , roomy,like having an extra oven only when you need it, and iteven stores neatly within itself.Yes I can say it does what I need quite well!

(More customer reviews)The electric turkey fryer is a good choice if you don't want the mess or hazards of using oil for deep frying. For the money it does an okay job of doing nothing more than cooking your turkey and collecting the drippings. All in all, only buy this product if you want to make room in your oven or grill to cook somthing else at the same time. One good thing about this fryer though is the wood chip tray for smoking. It seems to impart good smoke into the meat. Perhaps this fryer will work better as a low temp smoker. Will try that next. So, in short, if you are looking for that deep fried crispiness and look...this won't give you that.

Nut Roaster Review

(More customer reviews) If there is such a person as a nut-aholic, that's me!I love nuts and they're nutritious, too.In the past, glazed nuts have always been special occasion treats, bought in small jars or cellophane bags and doled out sparingly.No more!

The Back to Basics Nut Roaster easily glazes all my favorites - almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews in a quick ten minutes on top of the stove. The roaster itself looks a bit like a deep fry pan with a mixing handle in the center.All I do is put the roaster on our electric cook top over medium high and then add nuts, glaze mixture (more about that later) and specified amount of water to pan.Then, simply rotate the mixinghandle until the moisture is gone.I pour the nuts onto a non-stick cookie sheet to cool.If any stick together they're easily separated with a wooden spoon while they're hot.

Now for the promised glaze info: We really like the Back To Basics Toffee and Cinnamon glazes. For either of these we use 2 cups nuts, 3/4 Cup of glaze and 3 Tablespoons of water.Delish!

This past holiday season we gave neighbors and friends jars of glazed nuts for which we received thanks and compliments galore.We also try tokeep some on hand in an air tight container for drop-in guests but, to be honest, more often then not they're for us.

(More customer reviews)This is a very well made pan.The surface is not as nicely finished as a Lodge product (number one in my book), it is manufactured in China.But the quality is decent and this pan will probably last forever. This in turn makes me wonder if I will regret this purchase.I've used it only once and to be truthful the "infusion" seemed to make no impact on the flavor of the chicken.Maybe I'm just at an age where most of my tastebuds are dead or perhaps I need to find some better recipes. For those who adore beer can chicken cooking this pan will probably be a big hit.
If you want to get a perfect finish on this pan rub it with a generous coat of shortening, warm it very slightly on the stovetop and then pop it into a 500 oven and turn the oven off.I always seal my cast iron just after baking homemade pizzas when the oven is super heated.Just don't put a cold pan into a hot oven.The surface will be glossy and perfect.You better have a good exhaust fan though, as the fumes are not too pleasant.

Weber 6408 Style Poultry Roaster Review

(More customer reviews)Stable and safe, it holds the chicken proudly upright. That alone is a huge virtue. And, better yet, it actually produces a very excellent result for very little effort. It is easy to clean, too.

The idea is that you add beer to the container below the spikey thing, and also to the pan area. Fruit juice or any likeable liquid also works very well. So, you can finish off the beer and find something in the fridge that will work just as well. I also add garlic and some rosemary because we have a big bush of it outside the door.

You just slide the chicken on and put the little plug in the other end to trap the steam. Steam must be the secret because otherwise it is just heat like in any oven.

My wife makes a rub with some flour, cornmeal, red pepper, salt, garlic powder and onion powder in variable ratios. Rub some oil on the chicken and then the rub. It comes out very crispy on the outside and amazingly tender on the inside.

I use those Weber coal retainers that keep the coals to the sides of the kettle so there is a place in the middle for the chicken roaster. Keep the coals clear to the sides. If you use a chimney charcoal starter, filling it up will give you more than enough coals. The spikey thing rotates easily, so just give it a 1/4 turn every 15 minutes and you will find it is done in an hour at most.

Using it in an oven would work well also. You wouldn't have to rotate it. I would suggest a high enough heat to make the dry rub work.

This is not a cheap item, but is very much worth it because of the results, no nearly good enough alternative and it is so well made that it should pretty much last forever. It will be on Antique's Roadshow some day, so don't lose the plug.

West Bend 82386 Kettle Krazy Popcorn Popper and Nut Roaster Review

(More customer reviews)I shopped around quite a bit for a popcorn popper.I was tired of microwave stuff, and don't like the results from a hot-air popper.

There are several like this, with a motorized stirring rod and a cooking surface, but either they get poor reviews for reliability (Cuisinart), or were too expensive, difficult to maintain, scratched the Teflon cooking surface, etc.

This model is very similar to the West Bend Stir Crazy, but has two heat settings (nuts or popcorn) and - most importantly - a much thicker stirring rod.With the more basic Stir Crazy, the rod is thin and easily flexed (think coat-hanger) and diverted by the weight of the popcorn itself, causing it to be pressed into the Teflon surface while rotating, thus scratching the Teflon.This model has a MUCH thicker stirring rod (I took a few pictures and added them above to demonstrate) that never makes contact with the surface.

The popper pretty much performs like it's supposed to.I was curious to see if the lid stayed in place while popping a full batch, because is simply sits on top and is only held in place by the weight of the cover.It does in deed stay put.

It doesn't seem to matter what brand of popping corn you use.Name brand or generic seem to perform the same - very well.I have never used the butter well, because I don't like how you wind up with a few soggy bits of corn rather than all of it having a consistent flavor and texture.I've experimented some and found that simply adding several pats of butter to the oil and corn does a great job of giving you a nice mild butter flavor.I thought maybe the butter would burn, but that did not happen.I also reduced the oil by 1/2T Spoon, but don't recommend reducing the oil much more than that, since the distributed hot oil is what promotes the rapid kernel popping.I also added salt directly to the oil and popping corn at the beginning of the process, which worked well enough, but was more difficult to clean in the end.I'm also worried that it might over time scratch the Teflon surface, so I don't plan to do that again.

The bowl is moderate thickness, and appears fairly sturdy.It is not flexible, so I imagine a hard drop might crack it.Because it is a hard clear plastic, it is susceptible to scratching if you use any kind of abrasive to clean it.I'm not sure why you would, considering it only takes a bit of soap and hot water to clean popcorn/oil/butter residue, but whatever.

Finally, it comes with a few recipes in the manual.We've tried a couple and they turned out well.One of them was Scotcheroo Popcorn - which is a sort of gooey sweet treat that includes chocolate and butterscotch chips.

All together we are really, really happy with this popper.I recommend it without hesitation.

UPDATE: UPDADE:I often wonder about these reviews.99% of the good reviews are written in the first few days of ownership.This tell you nothing of the longevity of the product.So, I am back after a year to tell you that I still love this popper.It still does a great job, and has had absolutely no issues.
